Throughout history, civilizations have thrived in regions with abundant resources. Healthy soil, fresh water and temperate climates led to cultures like ancient Egypt, the Aztecs, Incas and Mayans, Navajo, and even Rome. When the climate changed, the civilizations fell and today we see only the crumbling remains of what were once great civilizations.
Today, our world is filled with production specializations and fragile supply chains and I wonder, is this sustainable or are we due to experience the same outcomes as those once great civilizations? Can we learn from our shared histories and create a different outcome?
